UNSC STOP! You Are Amputating The Wrong Leg.
It was not long time, it was around late 1970's, Fiddle Castro of Cuba and Mengistu Hailemariam of Ethiopia had a co-operation agreement and accordingly Fiddle Castro sent medical doctors to Ethiopia as a good gesture to the friendship between Ethiopia and Cuba. The majority of the medical doctors were fresh graduates. At that time, Ethiopia was engaged in hot warfare with Eritrea and Somalia as well. The result of the war was death and casualties to the soldieries. While the dead were buried the wounded soldieries ended at the hand of the Cuban doctors. Some of the wounded soldieries, the casualty was in one side of their legs or the other side of their arms. At that time, it was a normal episode to hear the Cuban medical doctors were amputating by mistake the healthy leg or arm. Some of the soldieries lost both either their legs or arms due to these mal practices. Let us take the above mentioned story as refreshment and continue our discussion to what the number zero is doing at the UN.
Last week, the UNSC passed a resolution number 1640/2005 that threatens economic sanctions if Eritrea do not lift the ban on the helicopter use by UNMEE. If the UNSC is quick to punish Eritrea then what is its problem when it comes to Ethiopia. In fact, the obstacle is Ethiopia and not Eritrea.
The historical misdeeds by UN against Eritrea is beyond to have a clarification. It can be said; generally it is a crime waged by the name of UN against the Eritrean people. If I don't compare it with the holocaust, I can simply label it less to it. In the early 1950's, if UN could simply said the Eritrea people deserve independence, they could have saved all the destruction's both to Ethiopia and Eritrea that we witnessed in the past 50 years. Due to the crime waged by the UN in the early 1950's still the problem of Eritrea and Ethiopia is continuing to this time. This is the time the UN to end the suffering of the Ethiopian and Eritrean people. UN has to take actions to persuade Ethiopia let the border demarcated and solve the problem once and for all.
This time, UNSC is committing another crime against the Eritrean people. In fact, it is not only committing crime against the Eritrea people, but as well to the people of the Horn of Africa. As our father sheik Ibrahim Sultan prophesied it in the 1950's unless Eritrea gets what it deserve there is not going to be peace in the horn of Africa. This time it is up to the Ethiopians either to choose to be a robot of the super powers or liberate themselves and join the hand of the people of the horn of Africa in creating conducive condition for development and happy life in that region.
Ethiopians have to say enough is enough and they have to start depend on themselves and not sell their dignity for handouts from the super powers. The peace and harmony in the horn of Africa should not be sold by Ethiopians to the super powers simply to receive aid. Ethiopians have to learn the principle of self reliance from Eritrea. They should not be part of the obstacle the super powers are creating to Eritrea. The Super powers are observing the hard work of Eritrea relying on self relines and they don't liked it. They are working to frustrate Eritrea not to be a symbol for other African countries. Our brothers, Ethiopians, think of your for-fathers deed when they smashed the colonial power at Adwa war. That episode was a pride for the whole of Africa. This time, like the Adwa war, Eritrea is engaged in smashing the neocolonialism of the super powers in the economical front. This is economical war between Eritrea and neocolonialists. Eritrea is going to win this war and it is going to be a pride for the whole of Africa as the Adwa war is a pride for the whole of Africa. Ethiopians!!! you should join your hand with the struggle for economical freedom of Africa. Don't let super powers misuse you to frustrate the victory of Africa.
