Focus on Eritrean election part 26

Focus on Eritrean Election (Part Six)
By Tesfamicael Yohannes
June 18, 2002 My motto: Exclusion ends in violence. Inclusion ends in justified election. Elections of Administrators of Zoba Debub (southern region) of Eritrea.

Without clear picture of date of elections and the circumstances of the conduct of elections, sheabeia.org web site posted an interview that expresses “Direct elections for administrators of districts and villages
were carried out last week in the most populated Zoba Debub Region this month. These were appointed executive posts before. Abraham Kahsai met Mr. Kahsai Ghebrehewet, governor of Zoba Debub, to discuss the timing, procedures, objectives and more about the elections”

The timing of the election manifests that Eritrea is recovering from the dark years of war and conflict with neighboring country Ethiopia. The Eriterean government wants to test the capacity of the people in conducting
elections freely and fairly as rehearsal for the coming national ...

Focus on Eritrean Election (Part Seven)
By Tesfamicael Yohannes
My motto: Exclusion ends in violence. Inclusion ends in justified election. Towards Election For us, the common people, the only true way to democracy, human right, constitutionals, rule of law, prosperity, unity and utmost stability of Eritrea is through election. No more, to believe to the propaganda of the revolution. We had enough, of sweet promises of democracy, humane right and etc. We don't forget the broken promises of vanguard fronts and revolutionaries. I am in a position, this time, not to follow to decorated slogans of democracy, humane right and others. Now, I want to put my soul, in a believe of fair election only. In other words, I am waiting to see election to be conducted in Eritrea. I want to see elected representatives of the Eritrean people, deliberate issues concerning the Eritrean people and pass resolutions to guide ...

Focus on Eritrean Election (Part Eight)
By Tesfamicael Yohannes
My motto: Exclusion ends in violence. Inclusion ends in justified election. It was, the famous singer of Eritrea, Aberhet Ankere, who said " nebeyneye terife" (left alone). Her melody was about a young women who do not got a proposal of marriage while others were enjoying it. In this article, my concern is not marriage. I am married man and have two children, the third is on way. The issue is about election in Eritrea. There seems no sign at all, about election is going to be held in Eritrea. We follow, elections around the world through media. Even elections were held in Bosnia. Who thought elections would be held in Bosnia, first of all. Elections were held in Pakistan, Germany and around the world in general. Every where, people are exercising their right to chose their representatives. I heard elections ...

Focus on Eritrean Election (Part Ten)
By Tesfamicael Yohannes
My motto: Exclusion ends in violence. Inclusion ends in justified election.

Summary of Part One to Part Nine. Part One. I mentioned about the resolution of the 14 session of the national council of Eritrea, and the ratification of the electoral law. The assignment of the respected tegadalig Romedan Mohammed Nur as chair person of the election commission. I stressed about the exclusionary method used both by the Eritrean government and the opposition groups. The banning of multi party election for the time being and the projection of elections of individuals to the Eritrean parliament was mentioned. Based on this announcement of elections of individuals by the Eritrean government I recalled the proposal of Mr. Hirue Tedla (now general secretary of Alliances) about elections of individuals starting from Adi and progressing towards national election. His proposal finds in asmarino.com "DEMOCRACY IN ...
